The Zamora origins go back to the Acropolis located on this strategic place to dominate the river Duero. The people who used to live on this Acropolis were the "vacceos". This people were "Celtiberian" and they came from the South of Africa and the East of Europe. There is the belief that they came by the VIII century before Christ and they settled along the Duero river. Also in Salamanca, Toro, Medina del Campo and Valladolid. So, they are "pre-roman" people.

I have brought this picture, though it belongs to Soria (another province of Castilla y León), but it is the typical construction of "Celtiberian" or "Vacceos" people, noticing all "Celtiberian" settled all around Castilla y León.

They were basically warriors and used to bury them with weapons.

This is a shield found from this period. They used to be organized on hierarchies and it catches my attention that their they sustained client relationships, so that the aristocratic warrior class protected and feeded the rest of the group, in the same way Feudal gentlemen did with their vassals, and also the "Caciques" or "chiefs" at the XIX century did with the common people. So, all this makes me think that this type of "client" relationship between ones and others go back to this period eight centuries before Christ.

By XII century after Christ the city Romanesque buildings began to be built and because of this is known like the "Romanesque city".
