Its past is due to Romans and Arabs. This city is charge of History. It began to reach importance at the end of the middle age when the city headed the economy of the Iberian Peninsula.

Medina´s "Castillo de la Mota". This castle is the expression of splendour built along the XV century. It worked out as a prison where César Borgia was prisoner.

 

   

From this balcony at "Hispanidad Plaza Mayor" mass was celebrated for people. It is the "Palacio Real Testamentario". This palace was where the Queen "Isabel La Católica" made her will. The third picture shows an statue of the Queen. She recommends her descendants, Princes Juana and Felipe to honor, protect and promote the Catholic Faith, conquer Africa and favor the Spanish Inquisition.

Since her marriage on 1.479 with Fernando, the King of Aragón, both kingdoms (Castilla and Aragón) were joined. This dynastic union was considerated like the beginning of the unity and greatness of Spain.

One of their goals was the reconquer of Granada Muslim kingdom which was made in 1.492. In the same year they supported to Cristóbal Colón to discover the new lands. And also in 1.492 they dictated the expulsion order of Jewish.

 Finally, she died in 1.504 in Medina del Campo. She must had been a very balanced woman since many adversities came to her life (his son died and her mother, sadly, was not very healthy), but she became stronger instead of weak by reading spiritual books and took the inner power from silence and meditation.

I have brought this picture to break suddenly with the History related just one second ago. This is the "Palacio de las Salinas". This is a palace built on 1.912 by the same architects that the "Palacio de la Magdalena" in Santander.

Their design is the result of a eclectic style that combines British and French elements and it surprises at all in the middle of the Castilian architecture.

Currently is being used as a spa because of the power of its thermal water. I am a fan of them and their costumer.
